Deliver technology and data literacy curriculum focused on social justice to youth aged 14-25, empowering Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and AAPI communities to become technology producers. This role involves teaching coding, web development, or data science in an informal education setting.
Responsibilities
- Teach a social justice ("sociotechnical") and software development or data science curriculum to youth ages 14-25
- Lead and facilitate teaching sessions, community building and related professional skills sessions
- Leverage existing instructor materials and student resources (course outlines, instructional materials, and training aids)
- Provide small group mentorship opportunities and technical support to students
- Collaborate with instructors and programs team members to identify young people with strong technical and professional development skills for post-program opportunities
- Collaborate with the team to ensure all student data is collected and accurate in a timely manner
Requirements
- Experience working with and facilitating learning experiences for Black, Latinx, and Indigenous students
- Passion for and knowledge of approaches to racial justice & equity in the technical domain
- Passion for inclusion in technology
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, javascript, python (or other OOP), and data science
Qualifications
- BS degree in Computer Science, mathematics, or other STEM equivalent (e.g. certification of achievement, advanced status in a tech bootcamp)
Nice to Have
- Experience in teaching, giving technical talks, workshops, or tutorials at conferences, meetups, or schools
