Technical Designer

About This Role

This role is responsible for developing accurate, production-ready tech packs for showroom samples of Halston Sportswear & Dresses. The Technical Designer will manage the product lifecycle from initial sketch through showroom sample completion while ensuring design intent, fit, construction, and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Manage the product development lifecycle from sketch through showroom sample completion
• Maintain seasonal calendars and track SRS deadlines to ensure all market appointment milestones are met
• Partner with Design and Production teams to develop cost-effective styles while maintaining brand standards
• Create detailed, computerized technical specification packages and tech packs
• Review and evaluate samples for fit, construction, pattern accuracy, proportions, and design integrity
• Communicate technical corrections using digital photos, sketches, and detailed written feedback
• Utilize PLM, FileMaker, and Photoshop to manage product data and technical documentation
• Communicate directly with overseas offices and vendors to resolve garment construction and development issues
• Help coordinate fabric delivery from suppliers to factories for sample production
• Build strong working relationships with cross-functional partners to support efficient product execution

Requirements

• 2-5 years of technical design experience with a focus on first sample creation and design room development
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
• Proven ability to develop finished garments from concept through sample stage
• Strong working knowledge of PLM systems
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
• Excellent project management and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail
• Confident verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume design environment
• Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams and overseas partners

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
• 2-5 years of technical design experience with a focus on first sample creation and design room development
