This role is responsible for developing accurate, production-ready tech packs for showroom samples of Halston Sportswear & Dresses. The Technical Designer will manage the product lifecycle from initial sketch through showroom sample completion while ensuring design intent, fit, construction, and quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Manage the product development lifecycle from sketch through showroom sample completion
- Maintain seasonal calendars and track SRS deadlines to ensure all market appointment milestones are met
- Partner with Design and Production teams to develop cost-effective styles while maintaining brand standards
- Create detailed, computerized technical specification packages and tech packs
- Review and evaluate samples for fit, construction, pattern accuracy, proportions, and design integrity
- Communicate technical corrections using digital photos, sketches, and detailed written feedback
- Utilize PLM, FileMaker, and Photoshop to manage product data and technical documentation
- Communicate directly with overseas offices and vendors to resolve garment construction and development issues
- Help coordinate fabric delivery from suppliers to factories for sample production
- Build strong working relationships with cross-functional partners to support efficient product execution
Requirements
- 2-5 years of technical design experience with a focus on first sample creation and design room development
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Proven ability to develop finished garments from concept through sample stage
- Strong working knowledge of PLM systems
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
- Excellent project management and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail
- Confident verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume design environment
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams and overseas partners
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 2-5 years of technical design experience with a focus on first sample creation and design room development
