Join KPMG's Mergers & Acquisitions Tax practice as a Tax Associate, structuring tax aspects of various transactions, performing due diligence, and advising clients on tax-efficient strategies. This role supports high-profile clients in complex business opportunities and challenges.
Responsibilities
- Structure tax aspects of domestic and multinational private equity and strategic mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, dispositions, and IPOs
- Draft tax opinions, memos, structure decks, and Excel models illustrating tax benefits of alternative structures
- Perform tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities
- Provide sell-side tax advisory services, including advising on tax-efficient transaction structures and modeling costs/benefits
- Deliver bankruptcy and restructuring tax advisory services, providing tax advice on debt and equity restructurings
- Compute tax attributes such as earnings and profits, tax basis, and limitations under section 382
- Prepare and review complex tax models illustrating multinational entities' projected tax rates and cash tax expense
- Build capabilities in key technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI for client service delivery
Requirements
- Must be pursuing or have obtained by start date a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in specified fields
- Must be pursuing state-specific education requirements to be a licensed CPA prior to start date
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, or engineering (financial, industrial or systems)
- Early career level for those currently pursuing or recently graduated with a bachelor's degree or higher
Nice to Have
- Degrees and/or areas of study: Accounting and Taxation
- GPA of 3.0 or above
- Knowledge of corporate, partnership, and international tax law, with interest in M&A
- Strong technical aptitude, critical thinking, and research skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills
- Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, and Power BI
