Surgical Tech, Inpatient Operating Room

About This Role

This role involves handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and quality of care. The surgical technologist will provide technical assistance and support to medical/surgical staff, specializing in multiple surgical service lines for various patient demographics.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures
• Ensure patient safety and quality of care by performing various tasks and duties
• Provide technical assistance and support to medical/surgical staff and personnel during and in the turnover of surgical procedures
• Specialize in multiple surgical services lines
• Work with neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients

Requirements

• High school diploma, equivalent (GED) or post-secondary education
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) credential
• Visual color acuity screening (depending on unit role)
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program and 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience OR 5 years of full-time OR Surgical Technologist employment within the last 7 years

Qualifications

• High school diploma, equivalent education (GED) or post-secondary education
• 2+ years of surgical technologist experience, or 5 years of full-time employment within the last 7 years in an Operating Room setting as a Surgical Technologist

Nice to Have

• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA
• Technologist in Surgery- Certified (TS-C) through NCCT
