About This Role

This Summer 2026 Actuarial Intern will work with Milliman consultants on actuarial functions such as product development, pricing, and reserving, gaining mentorship and providing actionable feedback. The role contributes to solving important insurance problems like climate resilience and telematics.

Responsibilities

  • Use Excel for data analysis, peer review of data, drafting reports, and maintaining documentation
  • Perform predictive modeling using GLM’s and non-linear methods with SAS, Python, and R for rate analyses
  • Draft written reports and exhibits, and prepare internal/external correspondence
  • Prepare and submit state regulatory filing support documents
  • Undertake research projects of varying shape and size

Requirements

  • Available to work 30-40 hours per week for approximately 12 weeks during the summer of 2026
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher, including quantitative coursework in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, etc.
  • A minimum of one passed actuarial exam by the time of application
  • Experience conducting data analysis using MS Excel
  • Experience using MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, including quantitative coursework in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, etc.

Nice to Have

  • Two or more passed actuarial exams, and/or one or more VEE completed, at the time of application
  • Prior internship(s) or related work experience
  • Experience using SAS, R, SQL or Python and/or other modeling or coding languages
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
  • Expertise with statistical and modeling tools such as @Risk, VBA, STATA, etc.
  • Interest or intent to pursue actuarial credentials through the Casualty Actuarial Society
