About This Role

Step in as an On-Call Substitute Teacher to deliver high-quality instruction and maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment for special education students in grades K-12. Your role is critical in increasing student achievement by implementing instructional practices and ensuring alignment with district and state policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction using provided curriculum resources, lesson materials, and approved educational software.
  • Implement daily lesson plans and classroom schedules reflecting state standards, school expectations, and classroom routines.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and effective learning environment by enforcing student behavior expectations.
  • Support diverse learners by following approved accommodations and modifications, collaborating with staff.
  • Partner with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent instructional delivery and appropriate classroom support.
  • Monitor and document student progress through ongoing observation, data collection, and recording systems.
  • Communicate professionally with parents/guardians to share student progress, learning needs, and concerns.
  • Participate in team meetings as needed to address student support plans, behavioral needs, and family-related concerns.
  • Stay current on research-based instructional practices and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Respond constructively to feedback, demonstrating flexibility, professionalism, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field
  • Currently licensed or in the process of obtaining a state substitute teaching credential
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training
  • Prior experience providing instruction, guidance and/or support to children

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field of study.
  • Prior experience providing instruction, guidance and/or support to children, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.

Nice to Have

  • Special education credential
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services, curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in a classroom setting
  • Highly skilled in working with children with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or other related disabilities
