Substitute House Officer

About This Role

This role involves ensuring the safety and security of all guests, personnel, and property at The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel, by monitoring premises, responding to incidents, and maintaining safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Secure the building by monitoring, inspecting, and securing all entrances and exits, and surveilling individuals in all areas of the hotel property
• Control entry onto hotel premises through the parking garage by outside contractors during hotel renovation
• Patrol physical property or maintain a fixed post position, reporting suspicious activity and investigating accidents and criminal acts
• Maintain working knowledge of emergency policies, procedures, and regulations to respond to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations
• Demonstrate knowledge of life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV system computers, and other equipment to complete job assignments
• Ensure continuous and safe operation of all elevators and access doors
• Maintain confidentiality of all security reports and documents, releasing information only to authorized individuals
• Monitor the locations of Fire Life Safety Systems and equipment in the hotel (AED, exits, manual pull stations, fire extinguishers, sprinklers)

Requirements

• Successfully passed the Fire Life Safety Exam
• Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Basic computer knowledge and skills
• Ability to make excellent independent judgment decisions and assume responsibility
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Ability to remain extremely calm under high pressure circumstances
• Ability to effectively deal with internal and external guests with patience, tact, and diplomacy
• Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges
• Ability to exert physical effort in transporting 50 pounds
• Ability to endure various physical movements throughout work areas
• Ability to remain stationary at times throughout work periods
• High School Diploma
• Minimum two years in luxury or ultra-luxury operations
• Prior experience in Security/Loss Prevention, Law Enforcement, Military or Fire Life Safety
• Fire Life Safety Director
• State Guard License
• Certified in Adult, Child and Infant CPR, AED and First Aid
• TIPS

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Minimum two years in luxury or ultra-luxury operations, with prior experience in Security/Loss Prevention, Law Enforcement, Military or Fire Life Safety
