The Student Intern for Sustainability Programs at DASNY will support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives for DASNY's construction projects, by conducting research, analyzing data, and assisting in the promotion of environmentally sound practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform research on selected projects.
- Assist in the promotion of a sustainability plan for DASNY.
- Perform data stewardship, analysis, and reporting development related to Environmental Product Declaration and Construction Debris data.
- Develop a thermal energy network technical scoring tool.
- Assist in developing version 1.3 updates to the Owner’s Project Requirements.
- Lead internal communications surrounding GreenNY specification changes and additions.
- Develop and present short, asynchronous trainings related to best practices for deconstruction, phase change materials, and/or beneficial electrification.
- Produce and present sustainability moments relevant to DASNY’s work for customer agencies.
- Work on greening of DASNY including involvement in the sustainability committee and production of statistically significant data related to DASNY’s waste and recycling.
- Undertake special assignments as directed.
- Adhere to the NYS Information Security Policy Standards.
Requirements
- Matriculated undergraduate or first-year graduate student pursuing a degree in Construction, Environmental Studies, Building Science, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Interest in green construction and sustainability initiatives
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Demonstrated ability to work on a project from inception through completion
- Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
Qualifications
- Matriculated undergraduate (freshman level or above) or first-year graduate student pursuing a degree in Construction, Environmental Studies, Building Science, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Internship level.
