Structural Designer

About This Role

This role provides civil engineering support for projects in a nuclear facility, focusing on structural and seismic requirements. The designer will evaluate, design, and ensure compliance of structural supports while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design conflicts and issues during construction.

Responsibilities

• Provide civil engineering support for projects within a nuclear facility, ensuring compliance with structural and seismic requirements
• Evaluate and design structural supports, including drilling into walls, cutting rebar, and assessing load-bearing capacities
• Address emergent field issues, such as design conflicts and material substitutions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement design changes and resolve unforeseen obstacles during construction
• Ensure designs meet required load specifications and adhere to federal and facility standards
• Maintain clear documentation and follow standard design processes, preferably aligned with nuclear industry practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• 2-5 years of civil engineering experience
• Familiarity with structural and seismic design principles
• Understanding of standard design processes
• Ability to work onsite and respond to emergent issues promptly
