Staff Accountant / CPA Tax and Bookkeeping

About This Role

This role is for an experienced Staff Accountant focusing on tax preparation and bookkeeping, working with individuals, families, and small businesses. The position involves preparing various tax returns, supporting bookkeeping processes, and providing financial clarity and support to clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate federal, state, and local returns for individuals, small businesses, partnerships, and S corporations
• Develop organized, audit-ready workpapers and supporting schedules
• Communicate with clients regarding missing information
• Identify opportunities for tax savings and planning
• Support monthly bookkeeping for select clients, including account reconciliation and transaction classification
• Maintain clean, reliable ledgers and assist with closing processes
• Support year-end accounting, documentation, and preparation
• Provide ancillary services such as payroll review and administration when needed

Requirements

• 2-5 years experience in preparing individual and business tax returns
• Solid background in accounting
• Minimum of 2-3 years of tax preparation experience
• Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Strong foundation in individual and small business taxation
• Tech-forward mindset; comfortable with cloud tools
• Excellent communication
• Passion for excellent customer service
• Proficiency in Quickbooks Online
• Proficiency in Tax prep software

Qualifications

• 2-5 years experience in preparing individual and business tax returns; 2-3 years of tax preparation and bookkeeping/accounting experience
