About This Role

This role involves completing complex construction and repair projects for the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department. The technician ensures public safety and construction quality, adhering to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general park construction duties including minor concrete repairs, small concrete capital projects, and general park infrastructure repairs (benches, picnic tables, playgrounds, shelters)
  • Assist in preparing facilities or buildings for special events
  • Apply paint with sprayer or brush
  • Perform roofing work, alteration, and repair or maintenance of all types of roofs
  • Read blueprints, review and interpret plans, drawings, diagrams, specifications, and work orders
  • Maintain repair and maintenance-construction logs for equipment and facilities
  • Record work orders upon completion of projects and maintenance activities
  • Identify construction, maintenance, and repair needs for facilities and equipment
  • Provide accurate estimates for labor and materials for work
  • Demonstrate experience in the repair of existing playground equipment, ordering replacement materials, and repair/replacement of existing site furnishings

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Specialized training in assigned trade
  • 4 years of related skilled trades experience
  • 1 year of lead supervisory experience
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain a Certified Playground Safety Inspection (CPSI) certification within six months of hire

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in assigned trade
  • 4 years of related skilled trades experience, with 1 year of lead supervisory experience

Nice to Have

  • Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License
