Special Education Teacher

About This Role

Provide individualized and group instruction to elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Communication Impairment (CI) within a K-5 school setting. This role involves managing classroom environments and collaborating with staff and families to implement IEPs while ensuring compliance with special education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and group instruction to students in ASD and CI classrooms
• Manage classroom environments effectively for grades ranging from kindergarten through 5th grade
• Collaborate with school staff and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly
• Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations

Requirements

• Current and active Michigan Special Education teaching license with a focus on either Communication Impairment (CI) or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Experience working with elementary-aged children in special education settings
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to design and implement differentiated instructional plans tailored to diverse student needs
