About This Role

Plan, organize, and implement an instructional program for special education students, guiding and encouraging them to develop their academic potential within a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement appropriate instruction for assigned content areas in line with school standards, curriculum, and student needs.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials maximizing student engagement and learning.
  • Utilize diverse teaching practices to meet the individual needs of students from various backgrounds.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures and maintaining discipline.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Attend department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Participate in district and campus staff development and serve on staff committees.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone
  • Ability to analyze data
