Special Education Teacher

About This Role

The Special Education Teacher plans and implements an instructional program within a supportive learning environment, guiding students to achieve their academic potential. This role focuses on designing engaging lessons, managing student behavior, and communicating progress to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement appropriate instruction for assigned content areas in alignment with school standards, curriculum, and student needs.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to maximize student engagement and learning.
• Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies to meet the individual needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing classroom rules and procedures, maintaining discipline.
• Encourage and monitor individual student progress, adjusting teaching strategies based on collected information.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
• Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Participate in district and campus staff development and serve on staff committees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
• Ability to use computer including software, database, spreadsheet and word processing software
• Ability to analyze data
