Special Education Teacher

About This Role

The Special Education Teacher plans, organizes, and implements instructional programs to guide and encourage students in a learning environment, fostering their academic potential and meeting individual needs in accordance with school standards and curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement appropriate instruction in assigned content areas, adhering to school standards and student needs.
• Design and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to maximize student engagement.
• Utilize diverse teaching practices and methodologies to meet individual student needs.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Monitor individual student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records and prepare required reports.
• Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Participate in district and campus staff development and serve on staff committees.
• Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
• Take daily attendance and maintain discipline in the classroom.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
• Ability to use computer including software, database, spreadsheet, and word processing software
