Special Education Teacher

About This Role

The Special Education Teacher plans, organizes, and implements instructional programs to guide and encourage students with special needs to develop their academic potential. This role ensures a supportive and engaging learning environment aligned with school standards and curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement appropriate instruction for assigned content areas in accordance with school standards, curriculum, and student needs.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to maximize student engagement and learning.
• Utilize varied teaching practices reflecting diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, leveraging relevant technology to support instruction.
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing classroom rules and procedures, maintaining discipline in accordance with school policy.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students, adjusting teaching strategies based on gathered information.
• Attend department, school, district, and parent meetings, and participate in staff development and committees.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations, and prepare required reports.
• Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs, establishing open lines of communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
• Ability to analyze data
