About This Role

Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment to guide and encourage students' academic potential as a Special Education Teacher. This role involves designing and delivering lessons, managing student behavior, and maintaining records while supporting the mission of Harmony Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and implement appropriate instructional programs in a learning environment
• Design and implement appropriate instruction of assigned content area(s) in line with school standards, curriculum, and student needs
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning
• Utilize varied teaching practices and methodologies to meet individual needs of students
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
• Conduct tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
• Maintain discipline in accordance with school rules and disciplinary systems
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and needs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral forms with all levels of management
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to use effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
