Special Education Teacher

About This Role

This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing instructional programs for special education students. The teacher will create a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop their academic potential.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement appropriate instruction for assigned content areas in line with school standards, curriculum, and student needs
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to maximize student engagement
• Utilize diverse teaching practices and methodologies to meet individual student needs
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing classroom rules and procedures
• Encourage and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law and district policy
• Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs
• Attend department, school, district, and parent meetings
• Participate in staff development and serve on staff committees

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
• Ability to manage student behavior and maintain discipline
