About This Role

Plan, organize, and implement appropriate instructional programs for special education students to guide and encourage their academic development and potential.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement appropriate instructional programs in a learning environment
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials maximizing student engagement
• Utilize varied teaching practices reflecting diverse student backgrounds
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
• Encourage and monitor individual student progress and adjust teaching strategies
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by policy and regulations
• Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members
• Attend department, school, district, and parent meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to use computer including software, database, spreadsheet and word processing software
