About This Role

The Special Education Teacher plans, organizes, and implements an instructional program within a supportive learning environment, guiding students to develop and fulfill their academic potential according to school standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement appropriate instruction for assigned content areas
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials maximizing student engagement
• Utilize diverse teaching practices and methodologies to meet individual student needs
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and adjust teaching strategies
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and policy
• Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs
• Attend department, school, district, and parent meetings
• Participate in staff development and serve on staff committees

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
