Special Education Teacher

About This Role

Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment for special education students. The role guides and encourages students to develop their academic potential, utilizing diverse teaching practices and technology to meet individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program for special education students
• Design and implement appropriate instruction of assigned content area(s) in line with school standards, curriculum, and student needs
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to maximize student engagement and learning
• Utilize diverse teaching practices and methodologies to meet individual needs
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
• Encourage and monitor individual student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
• Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to use effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to use computer including software, database, spreadsheet, word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone
• Ability to analyze data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Entry level
