Special Education Teacher

About This Role

Plan, organize, and implement an instructional program for students with special needs, fostering their academic potential and guiding their learning within a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement appropriate instruction of assigned content areas in alignment with school standards, curriculum, and student needs
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to maximize student engagement and learning
• Utilize diverse teaching practices and methodologies to meet individual needs of students from varied backgrounds
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
• Conduct tutoring sessions to address all students' needs
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
• Maintain discipline in accordance with school rules and disciplinary systems
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
• Attend department, school, district, and parent meetings
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral forms
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to use effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to use computer including software, database, spreadsheet, and word processing software
