Lead small-group instruction for elementary students, teaching a rigorous curriculum that combines school and New York State standards in an engaging way. Assess student progress and communicate results to families and colleagues, while demonstrating a commitment to professional growth and the school's values.
Responsibilities
- Lead small-group instruction for grades K-4
- Teach a rigorous academic curriculum combining school and New York State standards
- Teach students in a high-quality, exciting way
- Commit to constant professional and personal growth by working closely with a team of teachers
- Constantly assess student progress and communicate results to families and colleagues
- Provide individual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistance
- Model a “whatever it takes” spirit to ensure each student is successful
- Model the school’s values in all communications with students, families, and staff
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills
- New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area
- Bachelor’s degree
- Passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture
- Strong desire to become a better teacher by joining KIPP NYC
- Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students from the communities KIPP NYC serve
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least two years of teaching experience strongly preferred
