About This Role

The Special Education Coordinator manages all aspects of the school's Special Education programs, providing academic, emotional, and physical support to students with disabilities. This role ensures students receive necessary educational services, aligns with IEPs, and facilitates relevant meetings while advocating for classroom accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Review intake assessments to ensure students receive educational services aligned with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Coordinate and provide pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate Special Education team, IEP, and pre-referral meetings.
  • Manage all aspects of the evaluation process, including conducting classroom observations and testing.
  • Partner with general education teachers and advocate for all classroom accommodations required by 504 plans and IEPs.
  • Work closely with families to address their needs throughout the IEP process and support student growth.
  • Maintain student records, prepare reports for regulatory agencies, and ensure compliance with special education laws.
  • Use standards-based assessment data to refine and differentiate curriculum and instruction.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school leaders, and families to analyze student work and assessments, ensuring IEP compliance.

Qualifications

  • Academic expertise in Special Education, the Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or related fields of study.
  • 1-2 years experience preferred in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities.
