Support students with complex needs in their educational and developmental journey by providing individualized assistance in classroom and residential settings. Collaborate with teachers and clinicians to implement educational plans, reinforce learning objectives, and promote positive behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the direct care and plan implementation for clients
- Assist the Academic Teacher in implementing instructional and therapeutic activities
- Assist with executing lesson plans and preparing instructional materials
- Assist the Academic Teacher with assessing progress and modifying teaching techniques
- Work with clients in residences during academic breaks and holidays
- Provide supervision, safety and crisis management for the client population
- Complete documentation of client behavior and participation in programming
- Adhere to scheduled activities and role model positive behavior
- Utilize proactive behavioral strategies to minimize client crisis and maximize success
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized residence/classroom environment
Requirements
- At least two years of college credits (60 credits in MN) or an associate's degree or higher
- OR three or more years supporting students with disabilities in Minnesota schools or similar
- Must be 21 years of age
- Proficiency in the English language
- Passing score on an approved, formal assessment demonstrating knowledge/ability to assist with instruction in reading/language arts, writing, mathematics or readiness (if no degree/college credits/3 years experience)
- Moderate computer skills (logging in, web navigation, Microsoft Word, basic keyboarding)
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Qualifications
- At least two years of college credits in any discipline/degree field (usually 60 credits if earned in Minnesota) through an accredited institution of higher education; An associate’s degree or higher in any discipline/degree field; or three or more years supporting students with disabilities in Minnesota schools
- Three or more years supporting students with disabilities in Minnesota schools or other states with similar competency areas
