Spanish Teacher

About This Role

Teach Spanish language and culture to students in a classroom setting, following state standards and district curriculum. Create a positive learning environment and manage student behavior effectively.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement appropriate instruction of content area as assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs
• Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport
• Create and deliver relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement
• Utilize a variety of teaching practices and second language acquisition methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet the individual needs of students
• Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards, monitor student assessment data, and maintain student grades and attendance
• Address all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each student’s ability to read, write, speak, and listen in the appropriate content area
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures
• Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement
• Take all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
• Appropriately maintain and secure confidential records, inquiries, and data
• Maintain appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required

Requirements

• Eligibility for Florida Temporary World Language Education Certificate
