About This Role

Join Her Campus Media's social media team as a part-time Social Video Editor, focusing on creating engaging, social-first video content for Gen Z-focused media brands. This role involves utilizing mobile editing apps and Adobe Premiere Pro to craft compelling visual stories.

Responsibilities

• Use mobile video editing tools to create engaging social-first video edits from HCM original and sourced video footage
• Employ strong editorial and social judgment to build engaging narratives and identify footage for punchy, snackable social cutdowns
• Make creative decisions on framing, cutaways, zooms, sound effects, captions, and text to enhance storytelling and viewer experience
• Optimize deliverables for their intended social media platform
• Redirect heavier, more premium edits to Premiere Pro when required
• Set and maintain a video workflow, including archiving and organizing footage and tracking licensed content
• Maintain a video production calendar in Asana, tracking deliverable progress and go-live dates
• Quality control work to ensure high-quality deliverables for publication
• Regularly monitor social media trends and app developments, incorporating them into video concepts
• Identify and act on opportunities to reuse/repurpose HCM editorial video content

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in short-form video editing
• Proficient in mobile video editing and experience using tools like Capcut, Prequel, Edits, Canva, etc.
• Intermediate user of Adobe Premiere Pro
• Basic understanding of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing
• Strong understanding of what makes an effective and watchable video on social media
• Adept at switching workflow based on priorities and executing on tight deadlines
• Ability to work 20 hours per week

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in short-form video editing

• Experience at a digital media organization
• Previous social media experience
