About This Role

This Office Manager role at a sleepaway camp coordinates logistics, manages administrative tasks, and delivers a positive experience for campers, parents, and staff. The position ensures smooth camp operations and upholds safety standards in a rustic, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the "face" of camp, maintaining a positive persona for parents, campers, and staff, checking in visitors and maintaining the visitor's log
  • Head the logistics table for weekly camper check-in, including recording details, sorting mail, and managing trading post funds
  • Sort and prepare incoming and outgoing camper and staff mail
  • Maintain office sign-out logs for visitors, vehicles, and petty cash
  • Monitor and utilize CampSite registration software, pulling reports, preparing rosters, and reviewing paperwork, and overseeing camper food allergies with the kitchen manager
  • Assist in maintaining the camp's Facebook page by taking, downloading, and uploading photos of groups and campers
  • Maintain security of staff and camp vehicle keys and documentation, perform general vehicle maintenance and cleanliness checks
  • Assist in paperwork completion, review, and distribution
  • Adapt swiftly to changing situations and embrace challenges with a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
  • Champion the values and vision of the Girl Scouts program, fostering a supportive and inclusive community
  • Assist in the creation and/or leading of weekly all-camp activities, themes, and opening/closing day activities, ensuring safety and efficiency
  • Participate in pre-camp training, post-camp clean-up, staff meetings, in-service opportunities, and post-season review
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures, including emergency action plans, health/hygiene standards, and regulatory compliance
  • Assist in the implementation of regular safety drills and staff training
  • Prioritize exceptional customer service for girls, volunteers, and staff

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • College coursework or experience in youth leadership, education, recreation, or camp settings
  • Proven ability to supervise campers and staff and support youth development
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow a structured yet flexible schedule
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain during paid training
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Physical stamina to supervise campers during long, active days
  • Ability to identify and respond quickly to safety concerns and emergencies
  • Must pass required background, fingerprint, and drug screenings
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of adults and campers
  • Willingness to work as part of a team, take initiative, and follow directions
  • Enthusiasm for nature and able to live in a rustic environment
  • Embrace a flexible and adaptable role

Qualifications

  • College coursework or experience in youth leadership, education, recreation, or camp settings
  • Experience in youth leadership, education, recreation, or camp settings or college coursework
