Site Work Team Lead/Equipment Operator

About This Role

Lead a landscape construction team, operating various equipment for residential and commercial projects in the Northland Region of New Zealand. Ensure customer satisfaction, safety, and efficient project execution while mentoring crew members.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a schedule and ensure service expectations are met
• Operate small to large excavators, skid steers, tip trucks, and other landscape site work tools daily
• Surface customer concerns and proactively assist in resolving customer service issues
• Ensure work is performed safely and by company policies
• Communicate regularly with the Project Manager to ensure client needs and expectations are met
• Oversee day-to-day site operations and delegate work to crew members
• Provide Project Manager with feedback on crew members and assist with training
• Ensure equipment preventative maintenance is performed and tools are in good working order
• Perform daily inspections of equipment, trucks & trailers, greasing of equipment and preparation of tools
• Accurately capture and turn in crew time logs and material usage, and log equipment usage and maintenance cycles
• Install and maintain silt controls and construction fencing
• Perform site demo, base prep, concrete footing installs, retaining walls, drainage, rock and step installations, lawn and turf installations
• Load and unload materials and supplies, organize materials, tools and maintain a clean job site daily

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in landscaping or excavation
• 1-3 years of experience in reading, understanding, and executing landscape and site work plans
• Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
• Valid Class 2 Driver’s License minimum
• Highly motivated, self-driven, and detail-oriented
• Punctual, dependable and accountable
• Ability to lift heavy objects
• Right to work in New Zealand

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in landscaping or excavation; 1-3 years of experience in reading, understanding, and executing landscape and site work plans.
