Site Safety Manager

About This Role

Garco Construction Inc. is seeking a Site Safety Manager to oversee and manage jobsite safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulations. This role involves diverse responsibilities, including conducting inspections, investigating mishaps, and developing safety plans to ensure a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log, including identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, and correction dates
• Enforce jobsite PPE requirements
• Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports, including reporting mishaps and near misses
• Use and maintain the OSHA Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses and make it available to the Contracting Officer upon request
• Post and maintain the OSHA Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin Board
• Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site
• Lead daily safety briefings "tool box talks" and orientation of new employees and subcontractors
• Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings
• Review and develop the APP and AHAs for compliance with OSHA, and approve, sign, implement, and enforce them
• Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements
• Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings
• Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors
• Monitor high-risk activities (confined space, excavation, hot work, fall protection, etc.)

Requirements

• 5 years of continuous construction or general industry in a supervising/managing role (4 years with current ANSI approved Safety Cert. i.e. CSHT, ASP, CSP etc.)
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test

Qualifications

• 5 years of continuous construction or general industry in a supervising/managing role (4 years with current ANSI approved Safety Certification)
