About This Role

This role is for a skilled ASME Vessel/API Tank Fitter responsible for accurately fitting, assembling, and fabricating pressure vessels and tanks according to ASME and API codes and standards. The position requires strong technical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where safety and quality are paramount.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications for ASME pressure vessels and API Tanks
  • Assemble and fit components like flanges, nozzles, and fittings, ensuring proper layout, alignment, and fit-up
  • Utilize fabrication tools such as water levels, key plates, and strong backs
  • Assist in performing welding tasks on various materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy metals) in accordance with codes
  • Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with specifications and codes
  • Collaborate with shop supervision, QA/QC, and other craftsmen to meet project requirements
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations
  • Troubleshoot and assist in resolving fitting issues
  • Cut and bevel holes/openings with a hand torch or plasma with minimal grinding
  • Fit shell cans together, addressing mismatches
  • Layout heads and shells of vessels per drawings using a water level
  • Layout quarter lines on heads, bottoms, and roofs
  • Properly fit nozzles, clips, and attachments in a head or shell of a vessel
  • Fabricate pipe from isometric drawings
  • Accurately figure cut lengths from an isometric drawing
  • Safely and proficiently operate overhead cranes
  • Properly rig and fit shell cans and heads together
  • Correctly rig vessels and load them onto trailers

Requirements

  • 3+ years field experience
  • Ability to undergo baseline audiogram
  • Ability to pass drug/alcohol screen and background check
  • Rigging and flagging experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications for ASME pressure vessels and API Tanks
  • Proficient in assembling and fitting components (flanges, nozzles, fittings) with proper layout, alignment, and fit-up
  • Proficient in using tools like water levels, key plates, and strong backs for fabrication

Qualifications

  • 3+ years field experience

  • Trade School program completion
