Shag Driver

About This Role

Operate a shag truck to move semi-trailers in and out of loading docks and around the company's facilities. This role ensures timely and safe transport of trailers and products, maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate shag truck and maneuver trailers to prevent injury or property damage
• Ensure correct trailers are spotted into correct dock doors for loading
• Ensure trailers are locked properly for safe forklift operation
• Ensure cargo is loaded appropriately for safe transit and trailers are sealed
• Ensure trailers are not pulled away from docks until properly cleared for removal
• Inspect and report needed repairs, maintenance, safety malfunctions, and equipment damage
• Perform routine checks such as oil level, tire pressure, and fueling
• Accurately and promptly complete appropriate work records in accordance with company policy
• Perform yard check of all trailers in drop yards and docks and notify management of yard conditions
• Pack and secure outgoing shipments in accordance with pick tickets and customer requirements

Requirements

• Ability to safely and efficiently operate a shag truck and other powered industrial equipment
• Familiarity with warehouse work and safety procedures
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to safety regulations
• Excellent driving record

Nice to Have

• Shag driving experience
• Hazmat endorsement
