Senior Systems Technician

About This Role

Provide systems design, technical documentation, installation, and expert repair for a diverse range of electronic communications systems and equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and advanced conference operation services.

Responsibilities

• Provide systems design and technical documentation for electronic communications systems
• Install and repair electronic communications systems and equipment at a component level
• Perform routine preventative maintenance for conference and TV production facilities, radio systems, and TV post production systems
• Provide fabrication support where required
• Install and maintain short and long haul signal distribution systems using copper cable and fiber optic routing and switching
• Provide advanced conference operation services for audio and video teleconferences, fiber hub network feeds, Video Over Internet Protocol (VOIP), and satellite television broadcasts
• Design, document, install, and maintain intra and inter facility audio and video transmission subsystems at DOE/HQ in Washington, DC and Germantown, MD
• Maintain and enhance in-house cable TV infrastructure
• Orchestrate setups of weekly events in client’s conference rooms or offsite
• Install low voltage cabling

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience operating, repairing, and installing audio visual equipment
• Knowledge of operation, repair and installation of audio visual equipment
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electronic communications systems using tools and test equipment
• Relevant AV experience in projectors, video relay, broadcast, and design
• Technical aptitude toward AV systems, video conferencing, computer technology, networking, wireless, and data cabling standards
• Experience with digital AV installation and maintenance
• Experience in commercial AV installations
• Experience installing and/or configuring Polycom and/or Tandberg videoconferencing products
• Working knowledge of basic hand tools for installs
• Ability to accurately read wiring diagrams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven face-to-face customer support skills
• Ability to multi-task several different projects or issues

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience and knowledge of operation, repair and installation of audio visual equipment

Nice to Have

• Good mechanical/fabrication skills
• Soldering skills
