Manage the complete landlord lease and sublease accounting cycle, provide customer support to landlords and subtenants, and ensure compliance with contractual rent terms. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, mitigates balance sheet risk, and collaborates with various departments to maintain data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of rent and subtenant accounting, including lease setup, amendments, payments processing, and month-end close activities across multiple locations
- Extract, analyze, and interpret data from multiple systems to support financial reporting and operational decision-making
- Create, amend, and maintain lease agreements in accounting system while validating sales mapping tables to ensure proper revenue allocation
- Serve as primary point of contact for landlords, sublandlords, Business Development, Development Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders regarding rent inquiries
- Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis for rent expense accounts, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with Business Development and Legal to review lease agreements, identify accounting implications, and ensure proper implementation of new contractual terms
- Support internal and external audit activities by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and explaining rent accounting policies and procedures
- Identify process improvement opportunities within rent accounting operations and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls
Requirements
- 5+ years of accounting experience engaged in delivering rent accounting programs
- 3-5 years of hospitality, F&B and/or retail experience
- Understanding of GAAP and rent accounting principles
- Familiarity with ERP Systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
- Proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area
- 5+ years of accounting experience engaged in delivering rent accounting programs; a bachelor's degree can count for 2 years of this requirement. 3-5 years of hospitality, F&B and/or retail experience.
