Lead protein engineering efforts to expand biotherapeutic possibilities for patients with serious diseases. This role involves designing, engineering, and preclinical characterization of biomolecular scaffolds, working within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Construct recombinant systems encoding protein variants and combinatorial protein libraries
- Conceptualize, construct, qualify, and implement high throughput screening platforms
- Conduct precision protein engineering to achieve specified design objectives
- Devise, optimize, and employ tailored protein expression and purification strategies for drug discovery programs
- Develop, qualify, and deploy quantitative functional assays to characterize protein performance in vitro
- Assess therapeutic candidate performance using in vivo models
- Contribute to collaborative prioritization and decision making on prospective discovery and development programs
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely records of methods development, experimental data, and data analysis
- Participate in cross-disciplinary mentoring and training within the RDL NH team
- Present scientific results to the RDL NH team, Insmed research department, and external scientific community
Requirements
- Deep technical understanding of, and hands-on experience with, molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, protein mutagenesis, and protein biochemistry
- Expertise with recombinant protein expression and purification
- Expertise with routine protein characterization methods including but not limited to spectroscopy, SDS-PAGE, western blot, ELISA
- Experience with protein-protein binding analysis
- Proven track record in experimental methods development, including experimental design, execution, and evaluation
Qualifications
- PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering or related field, or MS degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience with PhD or 9+ years of experience with MS in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering or related field
Nice to Have
- Experience with enzyme analysis
- Experience in high throughput functional screen development for protein libraries
- Experience with lab automation
- Experience with next-generation sequencing
