Senior Research Specialist

About This Role

Lead research and analytic projects informing the organization's operations and mission, covering policy development, program evaluation, and healthcare cost/utilization trends. Analyze healthcare claims data and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure data quality and evaluate outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and analytic projects to inform the organization’s operations and mission
• Cover diverse research areas including policy development, program evaluation, and health care cost/utilization trends
• Work with healthcare claims data
• Collaborate with internal researchers and external vendors to ensure data quality in claims data warehouse
• Analyze health care utilization, costs, and outcomes
• Independently manage complex analytic projects

Requirements

• Prior experience working with healthcare claims data
• Prior experience with statistical and data analytics
• Ability to independently manage complex analytic projects in collaboration with external vendors
• Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on presenting technical results clearly in both presentations and written memos
• Knowledge of SQL
• Knowledge of statistical coding programs, such as R, Stata, and Python
• Research Data Specialist I OR II - CalHR

Nice to Have

• Experience with evaluating data quality and conducting program evaluations using claims data
• Experience with program evaluation
