Senior Property Accountant

About This Role

Manage the full accounting cycle for a retail property portfolio, focusing on shopping center property accounting. This role also involves supervising the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team and acting as a liaison between company departments.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle for a retail property portfolio
• Supervise AR/AP team to ensure that accounts receivable and payable are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner
• Serve as a liaison between multiple departments of the company (i.e. Legal, Property Management, Leasing, and Finance) to assist in property issues and lease interpretation
• Provide backup support for accounts receivable and accounts payable as needed
• Assist property management in resolving tenant inquiries related to CAM and passthroughs
• Support due diligence for acquisitions and dispositions
• Mentor and develop team members; create a collaborative, accountable environment

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant shopping center commercial real estate work experience
• Deep experience in shopping center property accounting, including CAM, OPEX, real estate taxes, accruals, tenant billing, annual reconciliations, and lease interpretation
• Experience with CRE accounting software and systems, specifically MRI and AvidXchange
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Experience with OPEX reconciliation
• Organization and prioritization skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership
