Senior Project Engineer - Automation/CAPEX

About This Role

Lead capital investment projects from concept to commissioning for a manufacturing environment. Manage technical scope, commercial outcomes, and internal/external resources to deliver safe, on-budget, and on-schedule results across multiple manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle planning and execution of capital projects (scoping, feasibility, scheduling, budgeting, vendor selection, design reviews, installation, commissioning, handoff)
• Develop business cases that quantify operational improvements, risk reduction, and financial impact
• Create cost estimates, forecasts, and resource plans; adjust as required to support execution realities
• Drive technical solutioning, evaluating options for performance, cost, safety, and maintainability
• Own equipment specifications and work packages; ensure alignment across operations, engineering, and procurement
• Review mechanical, electrical, and control system designs, ensuring functional compliance and startup readiness
• Manage external engineering partners, contractors, and suppliers to maintain cost, quality, and safety standards
• Support bid preparation and evaluations, negotiate commercial terms, and recommend award decisions
• Integrate safety, ergonomics, environmental compliance, and operational maintainability into equipment and process design
• Provide structured communication to stakeholders on status, issues, scope changes, and milestones

Requirements

• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or similar)
• 5+ years of engineering experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated experience managing projects in the multi-million-dollar range
• Strong planning, scheduling, estimating, and contractor management experience
• Skilled in solving process/equipment issues and navigating ambiguous execution environments
• Effective communicator with ability to interface from production floor to leadership level
• Comfortable leading cross-functional project teams and influencing without direct authority
• Proficiency with project scheduling and standard productivity tools
• Willing and able to travel heavily to support multi-site execution

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or similar)
• 5+ years of engineering experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment; demonstrated experience managing multi-million-dollar projects.
