This role involves performing unskilled and semi-skilled mechanical work under supervision, assisting higher-classified personnel in maintaining and operating company facilities. The Senior Helper will gain knowledge for indentureship in the trade, requiring a commitment to continuous learning and safe operation.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine tasks under direct or indirect supervision to acquire knowledge for indentureship in the trade
- Assist personnel of higher classifications in their regularly assigned tasks
- Drive Company vehicles, including trucks carrying personnel and/or materials
- Operate trucks or equipment of a higher classification if qualified
- Lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment
- Use hand tools such as hammers, saws, screwdrivers, pliers, punches, and wrenches
- Use power tools such as electric/pneumatic drills, guns, and impact wrenches
- Assume an emergency management role and perform specific assignments as needed during emergencies
Requirements
- Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS)
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license
- Ability to perceive colors necessary for safe performance of duties
- Must pass Job Sample Test
- Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program
