Senior Fullstack Engineer, Payments

About This Role

Alt is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to build the financial engine of their alternative assets platform. This role involves designing and scaling lending products, integrating payment gateways, and creating user interfaces for financial transactions.

Responsibilities

• Engineer Financial Integrity: Build and maintain a custom double-entry ledger system.
• Own Lending Infrastructure: Design and scale lending products, including credit disbursements and loan management.
• Architect Integrations: Design and implement robust integrations with payment gateways and banking partners.
• Own the UX of Money: Create high-trust user interfaces for payments and lending.
• Balance Rigor with Speed: Make thoughtful trade-offs between rapid feature shipping and financial system correctness.
• Be a Multiplier: Level up the team through rigorous code reviews, technical documentation, and mentorship.

Requirements

• 5+ years backend systems experience (Python, Postgres, AWS)
• Proven ability to build modern frontends (React, TypeScript)
• Fintech or Payments experience (ledgers, payment processors, or lending products)
• Expert in SQL and relational database design
• Track record of fullstack ownership on complex financial features

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with a heavy focus on backend systems (Python, Postgres, AWS) and a proven ability to build modern frontends (React, TypeScript).

Nice to Have

• Experience with distributed systems
• Experience with credit/risk modeling
• Experience in the alternative asset space
