Design and draft electrical engineering systems for diverse projects, including commercial, government, restaurant, industrial, retail centers, office buildings, site/street lighting, and lift stations. This role involves collaborating with project teams to develop detailed electrical design concepts and coordinating with other engineering disciplines to ensure project completion.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project teams to develop electrical design concepts, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems
- Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using industry-standard software and design tools
- Perform calculations and analysis for load sizing, voltage drop, circuit protection, and energy efficiency in compliance with relevant codes and standards
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines, architects, and clients to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs
- Conduct field surveys and assessments to gather information about existing electrical systems and infrastructure
- Review and evaluate electrical specifications, equipment submittals, and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements and industry best practices
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers, ensuring the accuracy and quality of their work
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical design technologies, codes, and regulations, and incorporate them into project deliverables
Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within a consulting or design firm
- Proficiency in utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools for electrical design
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards, such as NEC, NFPA, and IEEE
- Experience with power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm systems, and low voltage systems
- Familiarity with electrical system components, equipment, and materials
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within a consulting or design firm.
