About This Role

Lead the development and implementation of Lilly’s state government affairs strategy, coordinating with Business Units to influence legislative decisions and manage relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Lilly’s state government affairs strategy in tight coordination with Business Units
  • Make technical (business and legislative) decisions within the enterprise and with external entities
  • Lead large-scale projects or campaigns with awareness of legislative and business risks
  • Manage relationships with public payer customers and function as a principal government affairs representative for Lilly
  • Represent Lilly with Governors, their cabinet and executive staff, state Legislatures, state regulatory agencies, and local elected officials
  • Support Lilly’s Federal office by leveraging relationships with congressional delegations from specified states
  • Serve as the primary company representative on all company issues with the executive branch, Legislature, regulatory agencies, and local elected officials
  • Engage and influence biopharma industry trade associations on behalf of Lilly
  • Lead the activities of contract lobbying firms and/or public relations firms within the region
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key advocacy and business organizations aligned with Lilly’s objectives
  • Engage with civic and community organizations within the area
  • Analyze and anticipate changes to the public and private business environment for multiple geographies
  • Educate and develop voluntary Lilly PAC participation and handle PAC and corporate political contributions
  • Coordinate in-state legislative activity by crafting state-specific alignment with Lilly’s business unit corporate affairs
  • Manage a budget for the region

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science or related fields
  • 10+ years of experience in government affairs or related lobbying experience
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
