About This Role

This role is responsible for applying local sourcing and purchasing plans for specific segments, ensuring compliance with the overall purchasing strategy. The Senior Buyer acts as the local voice of the purchasing strategy, managing local site purchases and supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Place, confirm, and update purchase orders as required by the site
  • Issue and schedule work orders, and update sales orders as necessary at specific sites
  • Participate in the execution of the local sourcing strategy to deliver competitive advantage
  • Participate in projects to achieve cost savings goals through collaboration with stakeholders
  • Source and select new materials and suppliers, and manage supplier accounts
  • Participate in sourcing optimization and overall supplier performance improvement through root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Meet with suppliers and account representatives, negotiate rates, and manage supplier records
  • Manage buying processes to ensure requirements for quality, quantity, on-time delivery, and pricing are met
  • Report delivery delays to production and operations and expedite materials as needed
  • Resolve delivery, quality, and invoicing issues
  • Participate in daily production and/or management meetings
  • Proactively manage inventory planning, including optimization of safety stock levels
  • Participate in new projects and sourcing of new materials
  • Participate in supplier audits
  • Work with Quality Assurance on raw material claims and assist with return authorizations
  • Ensure financial requirements such as requisition approvals and capital spending are met
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance in developing other team members

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ work experience in Supply Chain
  • Good commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships and develop trust with suppliers and stakeholders
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Resourceful, creative, and innovative in problem solving
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to prioritize and organize activity with lean efficiency
  • Understanding of ERPs and ability to manage orders and coordination within Mativ for inventory
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making abilities
  • Manages the entire procurement process and key interface issues with users and suppliers
  • Identifies and recommends improvements to processes and standards
  • Intermediary analysis of supplier data
  • Ability to take ownership of new products and material validation
  • Intermediary awareness of corporate process standards and concepts
  • Ability to coordinate supplier onboarding and conduct background research
  • Ability to identify and implement effective strategies to manage regional inventory levels
  • Basic knowledge of procurement processes (RFQ/RFP, supplier qualification, negotiation, contracting)
  • Ability to drive improvements in delivery times, cost, and quality of materials from suppliers
  • Collaboration with external suppliers regarding S&OP cycles and Supply Chain changes
  • Execute pull in/push out/cancel recommendations with suppliers
  • Must be 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or commercial
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in Supply Chain
