About This Role

This role involves planning and implementing capital/operating budgets, analyzing fiscal activity, and ensuring compliance with regulations for the Ohio Department of Public Safety. The Senior Budget Analyst will utilize financial systems to create and maintain financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement capital/operating budgets, agency office/section/division budgets and allotments, independently or as a lead worker
  • Research, analyze, project, perform and monitor fiscal/budgeting activity for assigned division, subdivision, or specific areas of responsibility
  • Assist in preparation, evaluation, and implementation of annual, biennial and departmental operating and capital budgets for fiscal programs and areas of responsibility
  • Assist with accounts payable functions, budgets and payroll projections, allowable costs, administrative planning
  • Prepare budgetary evaluations and discuss budget concerns or problems with appropriate managerial staff
  • Review and analyze legislation, administrative code, and policy changes to assess fiscal impact
  • Ensure compliance with Ohio Revised Code (ORC), federal regulations, and agency policies
  • Utilize financial systems and software (e.g., Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS), Business Intelligence (BI), Excel) to create, analyze, and maintain routine, complex and specialized financial reports and statements

Requirements

  • Experience in budgeting that included fiscal management & control involving use of quantitative/statistical analysis

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate core program in accounting, public finance, public administration or business administration OR graduate core program in accounting, public finance, public administration or business administration
  • 4 years experience in budgeting including fiscal management and control involving use of quantitative/statistical analysis OR completion of undergraduate core program AND 24 months experience in fiscal management and control OR completion of graduate core program AND 12 months experience in fiscal management and control OR 12 months experience as a Budget Analyst, 63261
