Support the Actuarial Advanced Analytics department in developing, evaluating, and implementing decision support (predictive) models for Selective's lines of business. This role also contributes to the Knowledge Management strategic initiative.
Responsibilities
- Work with actuarial and data science colleagues to build/refresh pricing models for all Selective’s lines of business
- Perform adjustments to raw historical policy data used in modeling, including loss development, trend, and premium on-leveling
- Perform reconciliation of data used in modeling to other sources
- Perform variable selection, including univariate analysis, and evaluate predictive model strength using lift curves and diagnostics
- Analyze the impact of proposed models on individual Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and regions
- Compare candidate predictive models and make recommendations
- Document all analysis and recommendations regarding predictive model development and evaluation
- Collaborate with IT and other departments on creating model variables using internal and external data
- Develop an automated scoring engine and work with IT on testing
- Provide actuarial support and validation throughout model deployment
Requirements
- Solid actuarial and analytical skills
- Developing financial acumen
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively train and develop junior actuarial staff
- Bachelors Degree
- 4 years of Property/Casualty actuarial work experience
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree Required; Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics or Economics preferred.
- 4 years of Property/Casualty actuarial work experience.
