Scripps Sports Local Sales Manager

About This Role

Lead the Scripps Sports local sales team at WSFL to drive revenue through innovative, multi-platform advertising solutions, with a focus on sports teams and sponsorships in the Miami market.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior director, sales (DOS) and other sales managers and departments to accomplish the objectives of the station with regard to Scripps Sports team sales and sponsorships
• Help in negotiating ratings, rates and budgets for sports with local station leadership
• Develop new business for station utilizing and maximizing all station platforms including but not limited to broadcast, digital, mobile, and sponsorships
• Assist Account Executives on key client sales calls for sports sponsorships
• Develop working knowledge of local sports landscapes and leagues
• Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Sales Managers to train, develop and motivate the local sales team so that revenue goals are achieved for sports budgets
• Maintain positive working relationships with outside vendors
• Interface with traffic systems and personnel to ensure efficient management of airtime inventory
• Effectively forecast sports sales revenue and manage department expenses so that financial goals are achieved
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, including entertaining prospective and existing clients and attending sporting events
• Collaborate with Scripps senior director sports revenue to support the local station

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in related field (preferred)
• Prior managerial experience (preferred)
• Experience in Sports Business Sales on League, Team, or Media side with a proven track record exceeding revenue goals
• Valid driver's license
• Good driving record
• Ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

Qualifications

• BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
• 8+ years of experience in related field preferred, with prior managerial experience and experience in Sports Business Sales on League, Team, or Media side with a proven track record exceeding revenue goals
