School Maintenance Technician

About This Role

This role involves performing general maintenance and repairs to ensure school buildings and facilities are kept in excellent condition. The School Maintenance Technician will use problem-solving skills and manual dexterity to contribute to a safe learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain school buildings and facilities
• Perform general maintenance using basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, appliance repair, and electrical wiring
• Complete set-ups and tear-downs for scheduled campus events
• Operate and maintain tools used in the maintenance and repair of building facilities
• Perform on-call duties as needed/assigned
• Remove snow with shovels, blowers, and plows when necessary
• Provide logistical support for campus activities, ensuring a clean and safe environment
• Assist with fire drills, lockdowns, and other safety exercises
• Help manage traffic flow and parking on campus

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in general maintenance or building trades
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Flexible, friendly, with good communication and time management skills
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work from ladders
• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, reaching, and crawling
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to walk long distances across campus
• Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching
• Requires climbing and balancing
• Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in general maintenance or building trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing)

Nice to Have

• Experience in CMMS software program(s)
