About This Role

Lead and execute structured group activities for youth, providing quality programming in health, education, and recreation. Monitor attendance, perform outreach, and maintain connections with parents and school personnel for students aged 5-18.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide structured after-school activities in health, education, and recreation for children and adolescents
  • Monitor student attendance and complete outreach to non-attending students and community members
  • Maintain connections with parents, school personnel, and other programs involved in student lives
  • Assist the Program Coordinator in maintaining program policies and procedures
  • Serve as a core staff member and point person for emergencies, reporting problems to the Program Coordinator
  • Perform administrative functions such as composing, copying, and distributing work, and preparing weekly schedules
  • Maintain a clean and orderly program environment
  • Implement activities as planned and supervise students during all activities and breaks
  • Actively engage in activities with children and act as a role model, implementing a Strength Based Youth Development Approach
  • Maintain student records and overall program documentation, including attendance and emergency contact information

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent with experience working with children and youth OR a HS Diploma with 1+ year experience working with children and youth
  • Sensitivity with multicultural settings
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity towards adolescent development issues
  • Desire to work with students ages 5 through 18
  • Successful completion of training in CPR and First Aid
  • Acceptable FBI, criminal background check and child abuse history clearances

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent credits, or a High School Diploma
  • Experience working with children and youth (1+ year with HS Diploma)

  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to handle conflicts with diplomacy and tact
