This Safety Engineer position involves developing, implementing, and improving safety programs to protect employees and operations within a complex manufacturing environment. The role focuses on ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and fostering a proactive safety culture.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices
- Conduct hazard analyses, job safety analyses (JSAs), and risk assessments for equipment, processes, and work activities
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action tracking to prevent recurrence
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to integrate safety into process changes, equipment installations, and capital projects
- Manage regulatory compliance activities, including inspections, audits, and reporting
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors
- Monitor safety performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend continuous improvement initiatives
- Support emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness efforts
- Serve as a technical safety resource for leadership and frontline teams
Requirements
- 3-7 years of safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process-driven environment
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable safety standards
- Experience with machine guarding, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and contractor safety
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate across multiple levels of an organization
Qualifications
- 3-7 years of safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process-driven environment
Nice to Have
- Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, or equivalent
- Experience supporting large, continuous-operation facilities
- Familiarity with process safety management principles
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills
