The Ambulatory Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice. This role ensures adherence to care standards and supports the development of other healthcare staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide and facilitate competent healthcare for patients and families.
- Ensure adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
- Ensure documentation of care is complete and accurate.
- Provide health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
- Act as preceptor and support the development of other staff and healthcare students.
- Provide leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
- Assist Nursing Supervisor/coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders.
- Perform telephone triage and manage items on the worklist.
- Assist with procedures, patient education, and manage nurse schedules for injections and suture removal.
- Perform wound care, catheter insertions, and IV starts.
- Assist providers with day-to-day patient flow.
Requirements
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in Illinois
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
